Happy Birthday Michael

So Buddy has officially started second grade in the new school. Last friday was his first day. The bus comes at 7:26 in the morning so I elected to drop him off at school. He still wants to ride the bus, so I might have him do that sometimes during the week. Coming home from school is a nighmare. All the 700 kids get released at the same time. There is a back parking lot for busses and day care and the front is for carpool. The problem is there is only one entrance to the school and for carpool they call 6 kids at a time and individually walk them to the car. SO Friday it took over an hour to get buddy from school. They get released at 3:25. The bus did not come until 5:30. Yesterday I had him take the bus home and he arrived at 5:00. The school's response "Have patience". Next week the kindergartners start. That is an additional 160 kids. I don't know what they are going to do. At his they had a staggered release time, a seperate entrence for buses, two carpool areas, and released as many kids in the carpool lane that could safely get to there cars. It ran smoothly. If I had Buddy ride the bus in the am and pm he would have almost a 10hr day. Today he has football, so hopefully carpool is not too bad today. My neighbor and I are going to carpool for a while so only one of us has to wait an hour at the school.
Anyway, back to my weekend. So Friday Buddy had a pep rally for football. It was a good idea, but there was some problems in there planning. They scheduled a coaches meeting at 6pm and the pep rally at 6:30. Well the coaches meeting did not get over at 6:30 and the pep rally was held in a gym that did not have air conditioning. It was after 7 when the pep rally started. It was cute, they had cheeleaders for all the teams and introduced all the players. Saturday morning , Buddy had his first game. They lost( but technically nobody wins or loses because no score is kept). The kids had fun. We did nothing for most of the day. Brian rode his motorcycle and then we went out to a wing place. We came home and had b-day cake( Buddy has football tonight). Sunday we played wiffle ball and grilled out afterwards. It was a lot of fun. Yesterday was spent wainting for the bus, and getting homework done. I also mowed the front yard. This morning I went out to lunch with K. and Lizzie and the girl I watch. Tonight, I will be taking Buddy to football. Brian has to work late, so he is going to meet us there. Brian is the waterboy for the team( he is really an assistant coach and offered to bring the water for today). SO I will be bringing the water in. I won't be able to carry the big water jug and the water bottles so I will use the wagon. Then hopefully I can get the rest of the yard mowed. And that is all. this weekend we have a party on Sat, one on Sunday, and hopefully I can get the kids to the lake on Monday.
For those of you who don't get the title of the post today is my birthday along with Michael Jackson.

Nightmare on Elm Street

I just found out that Nightmare on Elm Street is being released on DVD and is remastered, and all the other stuff they do when they re-release an old movie. They will be showing the movies at select movie theaters(for two nights) through out the country. I have not seen this movie in forever, but remember that when I saw it the first time it was at a sleepover and I was terrified the whole night. So I got all excited thinking that it would be cool to see it at the theatre. So I go to the website and type in my zipcode. The closest theatre is 70 miles away. That is crap. Just for fun, I put in my old zipcode from MA, and it is playing within 20 minutes of my home town. Very dissapointing.

Is it because I don't work outside of the house?

I have complained about this before and will complain about it again. How hard is it to bag groceries? Not that hard, I know I have done it as a job and I try to do it as much as possible when I buy groceries. I even make it easy for the cashier and the bagger. When I unload groceries onto the belt, put the heavy stuff first mixed with appropriate lighter items, then I do the non food items(laundry detergent, shampoo etc), then the cold stuff, with the meat grouped together and salad stuff grouped together, then the light fragile stuff( eggs, bread, chips etc). I am not a genius but I know what stuff should be bagged together and how to get the least amount of bags of groceries. Now sometimes the cashier screws things up, by grabbing things randomly(sometimes reaching as far back as possible and ignoring the stuff right in front of them) other times the bagger just doesn't care and throws all sorts of stuff together, or make a super heavy bag that rips as it is being placed in the cart. Then I will find a bag that has a box of ziplocs in it, that's all, one box of ziplocs. I don't know if all this bothers me because I no longer have co workers and customers to be frustrated with, or if this would bother me anyway.
Enough of my complaining( for now). So last weekend was good. Friday, my friend K.( K. do you care if I use your first name in my blog?) and I took Buddy and Lizzie to a lake that is not far from my house. We had been driving by this lake everytime we drove to the beach. It was not near an exit and never really thought about it until we were driving to the beach. So it turns out the lake is less than 30 minutes from my house. It has a playground slide in the shallow part for the little kids, two water slides( ones you would find at a pool) on the dock that go into the lake, a bigger one with a turn were you drop 3ft , a rope swing, a fountain; and in a seperate part a 167ft water slide that you go down using mats. They also have a playground and two beach vollyball courts. It was awesome. For the 4 of us it was under $30. Cheaper than gas to get to the beach and back. It is only open until Labor day. It is spring fed lake so it is pretty clean. The kids had a great time. We went on a Friday that started off overcast,so it was not crowded at all. Next year we are going to look into a season pass. Saturday, Buddy had his first football game. It was not official. It was a jamboree, and Buddy's team played two games, one were they did offense the whole time, and then one were they did defense the whole time. After that we had SOnic of lunch. We love Sonic, but the closed one to us is 40 minutes away. There was one near were Buddy played football. Then we went to a birthday party for a one year old. It was a lot of fun, the kids had friends to play with and the party was mostly for the grown ups. They rented a bouncy thing, that both kids and adults had fun bouncing on.
So after we got home, we realized that Chewy did not get enough exercise that day. Chewy is his nickname, we named him Chewbacca, because that is what he looked like as a puppy.THis is a picture of him from last summer. So we got home and he chewed one of my shoes, It was my pink stilleto heel that I wore to the 80's party and spent a total of $3 on. Sunday I got the kids dressed in nice clothes and tried to get a cute picture of them togther. It did not work out the greatest. I did get a cute one of Lizzie. I took them to a park, and the sun was too bright for Buddy( according to him) and lizzie did not want to take a picture with Buddy. It was a little frustrating. After they played at the park for a little bit and then we went to BJ's and spent way too much money on neccessary items. Brian went to a training to help out with Buddy's football team and played horseshoes at the neighbors. Buddy's football team needed some help so Brian and two other dads took the the class so they can help coach the team. The coaches they have now are very knowledgeable, but do not get the kids excited to play. On Monday I watched practice and notice the difference Brian and the other two dads made. They really encouraged the kids and made them excited. Brian never played football before so I don't think he will be calling any plays, but he will encourage the kids and with about 20 5-7 year olds, they need people to help out on the field. Buddy is doing great at football this year. Lizzie had her last summer class for dance last night. In two weeks she will start her year round program. There is a new gymnastics studio that is opening up down the road that I think I will take her to for open gym, and parents night out. Today we have Buddy's open house for school. It will be the first time we see Buddy's new school. One of the nieghbors will be in Buddy's class, so he is excited. This weekend all we have planned is Buddy's football game Sat. morning and Wiffle ball on Sunday. I think I am going to try to go out to dinner this weekend for my birthday. Tuesday is my actual birthday, but Buddy has football, so we won't be able to go out.

Oh What a Night!

So we had our 80's party this weekend. I think it was a success. We put our dining room table in the garage and turned our dining room into a dance floor. We had a disco ball up with colored lights on it. We had a Brian as the DJ with your choice of XM, records;cassettes, cds and our computer. The computer worked out the best because we had a free trial with a company that gaves us access to any song we wanted. People brought food so all Brian and I had to supply was drinks and decorations. We printed lots of pictures of people from the 80's and hung them around the house. We played 80's movies on the tv.(on mute). We had people bring pictures of themselves from the 80's. Everyone came dressed up, it was pretty amusing to see the clothes people came up with. I wore a leapord print shirt with a jean mini skirt, fishnet tights, white ankle socks with lace, and pink stilleto heels. The heels wore a good idea for the cosume but the next day my feet were killing me. A friend of mine found white spandex stirrup pants. The drinks were plentiful and I started enjoying myself early on. I lasted the night( until about 3:30) then had Brian get our overnight guests settled while I passed out in bed. The next morning was little rough. Luckily our kids stayed the night at a neighbors and we did not pick them up until 10 ish. I pretty sure everyone had a good time. I have not had a night like that in a long time. Sunday was essentially a wasted day, but the kids did play with the nieghbors in the afternoon, and then in the evening.
This is Buddy's last full week before school starts. He starts next Friday( I have no idea why they are starting on a Friday). I am going to try to take them to the beach this friday.

Emery

One of the great things about people from Massachusetts is that they know how to spell my name. Down here people that need to right my name down, usually right down Emery. Then I try to spell it out for them and it is a big ordeal. Not a big deal, but it is my name. I think there are too many consenants in the middle. After they figure that out, they it is usually spelled as two words. I had to order something from a company in Weymouth, MA. The girl asked my name, then asked if it was one word or two. It was great. There was no spelling involved, no what was that. It doesn't take much to make me happy.
We had a pretty good weekend. We played poker on Saturday night. We played mini tournaments, and I won one, so that was good. Sunday we went to a flea market looking for 80s stuff and found nothing. Sunday night Brian played horshoes with the neighbors and my kids played with one of the neighbor kids while I talked with his mom. We have such a good neighborhood. All the kids are great and all the parents are great.
This week I have been busy planning stuff for the party. I will write next week about how it went. Our digital camera is broken right now. It does not zoom, so if the pictures some out okay I will post some.

Da Bears

Brian and I now have tickets to see the New England Patriots play the Chicago Bears on Sun. Nov. 30 at Gillette Stadium. I am very excited, it will be my first Pats game. We are going with my sister, my brother and his two friends. My other brother already has a ticket w/ his friends and my sister's husband already has a ticket with his friends. I am not excited about the price but I am not dwelling on that. It is Thanksgiving weekend. I am torn between hoping it is not as cold as it usually is in NE at that time of year, and hoping there is snow. We did not get to see snow last year, so I really want to see some this year.
In other football news, Buddy had his first day of practice yesterday (in 100 degree weather). It was a success. Buddy paid attention and tried hard. He has matured a lot in the past year, though sometimes it is difficult to tell. He has two kids on the team that were in his class, and one kid that was in a class that his class idi stuff with all the time.
Lizzie is taking a tap/ballet class for the summer and loves it. In fall, she will start a tap/ballet class that will last the year.
So I was talking to a friend and her husband was picking on us for reading other peoples blogs. There are these people In Canada that I have been reading their blogs. It started with a link from Autumn's blog. It was a link from that persons blog, and now I read about their group of friends. Now that I am typing this its sounds kinda wierd, but it doesn't hurt anyone, doesn't cost money, and can't cause the computer to crash(I hope). Does anyone else do this? I also have discovered celebrity blogs. Meaning the ones that pick on celebrities. It started with Go Fug Yourselfand moved on to Pink is the new Blog, I don't like you in that way, and Egotastic. I am not addicted, but I do enjoy laughing at stupid celebrities, and looking at clebrities get so skinny they turn in stick figures( okay I don't enjoy that it is more like at train wreck-I can't stop watching)

Sharks, Baby, Rodeo, Guns n Roses

It is shark week on the Discovery Channel this week. I love sharks, and therefore love shark week. Last night that had a show on Great Whites off the coast of South Africa. These sharks jump out of the water. It is pretty cool to see these huge sharks getting airborne. In June we went to the Georgia Aquarium. I highly recomend it. THey have this huge tank, were you walk through it in a tunnel and whale sharks swim above you( and other sharks and fish). On one side is a moving sidewalk, and on the other there are people that help move people along. I was so excited to see whale sharks.

Last week we had a friend come and visit and she has a 3 month old. It was great to see her and her sweet baby.
I went to my first Rodeo on Saturday night. There is a place near us that has a rodeo once a year. It was a lot of fun. They had bull riding. One of the bulls was named Disco inferno. They also had barrel racing. The cowgirls have to ride around three seperate barrels and are timed. The kids had a lot of fun. They have been spoiled lately. They expected snacks at the rodeo and we did not get any.
We are planning an 80s party. It happens in two weeks, so if anyone one has any ideas for it let me know. I have found cool ideas on the internet. I have to do some shopping this week to find stuff. We made it adults only, so it should be like, wicked awesome.
