Don't Worry! Be Happy!

I have been stressing about Buddy's homework lately. As I mentioned before, he gets to choose his spelling homework. Buddy does not believe in choosing the easy way. Yesterday, he had several options. He chose writing all his spelling words, and then drawing a picture of all the ones that you can draw a picture of. It took him an 45 minutes to do 9 words. He still had 9 to go. He drew pictures of almost all of them. Many of them you did not have to draw a picture of( i.e. giggle, nibble, laugh). I started stressing about time(we had CCD last night). After he started to do more, and was really trying, I decided that I was not going to stress about it anymore. It is great that he wants to do homework, and he that he is not trying to do as little as possible. He is actually trying to do as much as possible. So I thought don't worry about, be happy he is not taking the easy way out. I don't know how long that will last. Until this morning. He did not know how to spell many of his spelling words. Some of the activities that he can choose for spelling homework are great for learning how to use the words, knowing what the words are, and recognizing them in reading. they are not all great for remembering how to spell the words. I worked with him this morning on it, so hopefully he does okay on the test.
In family news, my older brother hurt himself on the job this week. The doctor thinks he ruptured his achilles heel. He sees the specialist tomorrow. You know its serious when my brother says it hurts. He is very dissapointed. He had started training with with the SWAT team, and now he will not be able to work any overtime, or details. He also will not be able to ride his motorcycle. When I was telling Brian about this, he talked about how it stinks that my brother, someone who loves his job and wants to work, is out on disablilty, while others get a minor injury and milk it for all its worth. We knew someone(Tracy you know who I am talking about) who hurt his little toe tripping into Dunkin Donuts and was out for a year. Okay, maybe he wasn't tripping into Dunkin Donuts( thank Kristen for that one). But still.Anyway, that is all for now. I hope Bobby McFerrin is not stuck in everyone's head for the day.

Ahhhh, I'm so glad the added Dunkin Donuts part of that story stuck. Its so fitting.

I'm sorry to hear about Dave. I hope he recovers quickly. How long are they saying its gonna take?

I definitely do not remember homework in elementary school! Whatever happened to just memorizing the words on a list for a weekly quiz? That's how I learned and I'm not a shabby speller . I've already decided that homework detail will be Jon's duty. He's the starter on anyway...
